Snowy elevation meets a walkable high street
Edgemont Village has a split personality in winter. It sits high at the foot of Grouse Mountain, which makes it one of the snowiest commercial pockets in the entire Greater Vancouver area — heavy, wet snow accumulates fast, and the steep grades feeding into the village turn to ice quickly once it does. At the same time, it’s a compact, pedestrian-first retail strip where people park once and walk the block. That combination means the job isn’t just moving snow off pavement; it’s keeping a busy sidewalk network safe underfoot through the North Shore’s heavier end of snowfall.

That also keeps businesses on the right side of the District of North Vancouver bylaw, which requires the sidewalks bordering a property to be cleared by 10am after a snowfall. Each business’s frontage is mapped into the service plan, and salting is applied on the crossings as temperatures fall through 0°C.
